Darwin

A unique place you have to visit

When you think of Australia you probably don't think of Darwin but that does not mean you should miss out on visiting.

Darwin is very unique, there are not many places where you get year round sunshine, beautiful sunsets all year (especially in the wet season) whilst being so close to the outback that you can hop in your car and enjoy beautiful walks and waterfalls at Litchfield, Kakadu and beyond.

Sunset at Nightcliff, Mindil Beach, Fannie Bay or Casuarina is a must and will never disappoint. Even the rain doesn't stop play, everyone just finds another way to be outdoors.

The city is jam packed with wonderful restaurants serving everything from eggs benedict to delicious Laksa. There are boutique shops all close buy as well as several lovely parks where you can go for a walk under the shade of the tree almost all year.

Moving towards the waterfront there are swimming pools, restaurants and the Entertainment Centre where international and national acts come to perform.

There are museums where you can find out all about Australia, its wildlife and aboriginal heritage as well as a museum where you can discover Australia's involvement in the World Wars and later conflicts.

The weekends are the perfect time to visit the markets and during the dry season you will find mindil markets which draws the tourists and locals out to sample the foods, shops and entertainment which lines the market.

You can meet the crocodiles and other Australian wildlife at the various parks dotted around Darwin and the surrounding areas.

If you want to escape the city you can visit hop in the car for a swim at Berry Springs, Litchfield and Kakadu (amongst others) during the dry season and a trip to the Mary River or Corroborree Billabong on a boat is well worth it so you can see the Wetlands in all their glory.

If you haven't visited Darwin before you definitely need to put it on the to do list for your next holiday!
