Fogg Dam

A Great Place to Find Birds

Fogg Dam is a great location to visit all year round in the Darwin area and is only about 45 minutes south of Darwin on the Arnheim Highway.

The bird life is brimming in the area which is perfect for bird watchers and photographers alike. During the wet season the dam often overflows over parts of the wall and with a slow and steady drive down the wall you will find the wildlife comes right up to your car in places.

There may or may not be saltwater or freshwater crocodiles in the area and so it is best to stay in your car or only get out of the car at the viewing platforms dotted along the road.

At the end of the road there is a two storey viewing platform where you can sit and watch the birds coming and going in the wetlands in front of the viewing platform and that can really be a sight.

If you fancy a walk there is also a 2.2km lily walk and Monsoon Rainforest Walk which is 3.6km. Cover yourself in bug spray and make sure you have plenty of water and enjoy the walk.
